Maintenance

A photograph of Blackpool tower from the beach. The impressive metal structure of the tower is in the background, but a metal shopping trolley is in the foreground - half buried in the wet sand.

About a month ago now I was in Blackpool, Lancashire. For those of you that don't know the sea-side town in North West England, I'll let you search the internet for the gist. I feel about towns the same way I feel about families - I can talk about mine, but I shouldn't talk about yours...

The reason I mention it, is because I saw this scene and it struck me. I took this photo and it's lived in my head.

It was a reminder that as human beings, we can achieve so much when we are striving to develop, but we often fail to maintain.

The excitement isn't in the maintenance, but we lose the beauty without it.

It's been a useful reminder for me this last month and, because it came up again today, I thought I'd share - in case it proves useful to you too.

As always, if you are feeling troubled, please consider whether you think you would benefit from getting relevant support. https://helplines.org/helplines/
